Small-Group Drysuit Diving in Kushimoto
We had beautiful sunny weather on the last day of October!!
There were some waves on the surface due to the westerly wind, but underwater conditions were calm.
For our first dive, we split into two groups: a boat fun diving team and a drysuit orientation diving team.
From the second dive, we all headed out for boat diving!
Our drysuit orientation diving plan combines one beach dive, where you learn the basics of using a drysuit and practice underwater, with a boat fun dive afterward.
It's a great option for divers who have never used a drysuit but would like to give it a try!
Today's guests practiced their drysuit skills during the first beach dive and enjoyed boat diving from their second dive onward♪
Visibility at the boat diving sites was around 10–12 meters.
The murky conditions we had before have cleared up, and underwater visibility is gradually improving! 😊
As the seasons change, we're starting to see signs of the underwater scenes that usually appear from November onward.
One of them is White ghoat saddle fish.
The photo below was taken previously, but during the peak season, large numbers of them gather together!
It's an incredible sight!!

Looking back at today's photos, I realized that almost all of them were nudibranchs! Haha!
I guess I'm already getting excited about our upcoming Nudibranch Safari!!
Lots of Nudibranchs in Kushimoto!
We've been seeing plenty of Colpodaspis thompsoni throughout this year, including the summer.
And today was no exception!

Another species we've been seeing frequently is Chromodoris colemani.
It might be thanks to the Kuroshio Current, but we've spotted many individuals this summer, from extremely tiny ones to larger ones.

Then, when I looked just below it, I found another nudibranch quietly hiding there!!
At first glance, I thought it might be Facelina bourailli or Cratena affinis.
But the shape of its cerata looked similar to Eubranchus?!
After doing some research, I think Eubranchus sp.34 might be the closest match.

Finally, we found a Protaeolidiella atra that was a little easier on the eyes thanks to its size!
Just as expected, it was sitting on its usual host organism!

We also spotted Harlequin shrimp and other marine creatures.
But since almost all the photos I took were of nudibranchs, today's blog has turned into a nudibranch special! 😊
