Small-Group Fun Diving in Kushimoto Despite the Typhoon Swell
November is here! We started the month with a fully booked Sunday! The weather was beautiful, with clear skies and no wind. Perfect conditions on land! (^^)
However, the swell from the typhoon had arrived, and there was some movement underwater. Still, we were able to enjoy diving by choosing areas less affected by the swell.
We split into two groups: one for drysuit orientation diving and the other for boat fun diving.
Underwater visibility was around 8 meters due to the swell, and the water temperature was 23–24°C. If you tend to get cold easily, it might be time to switch to a drysuit!
We had frequent typhoon swells throughout October, and many of the marine creatures we had been observing had disappeared. However, at a dive site we hadn't visited for a while, we were able to find the Long-nose seahorse that we had been observing before!
I was really surprised to see it again, as I thought it would surely be gone by now! It seems that the place where a creature lives really is its safe and comfortable home.
At a dive site on the northern side of the bay, the swell made macro photography difficult. But we still managed to find some nudibranchs!
One of them was the Tenellia sibogae, which is popular for its beautiful colors.
Several individuals were gathered together in an area protected from the swell.
Maybe one of the secrets to finding nudibranchs in rough conditions is to think like a nudibranch! When I look for places where I think they could stay comfortably, I often find quite a few! (^^)
Enjoying Underwater Photography at a Relaxed Pace with One-on-One Guiding
The last boat dive on Sundays can be a great opportunity to enjoy diving in a smaller group. Today, we enjoyed a one-on-one underwater photography dive!
Our guest was able to take their time photographing each subject until they were satisfied with the results.
We also spent plenty of time photographing the Harlequin shrimp, which was one of the main subjects our guest wanted to see. We spent around 15 minutes on each subject, trying different photography techniques and enjoying the process!

Our Free Drysuit Rental Campaign and Nudibranch Safari are also underway from November! If you have any questions or would like to make a reservation, please feel free to contact us through our website or WhatsApp.
Tomorrow, the Kushimoto diving area will be closed due to strong southwesterly winds associated with a passing low-pressure system. Uchiura Beach, which we sometimes use when conditions in Kushimoto are rough, will also be affected by the wind direction this time.
Therefore, we won't be diving tomorrow. However, we'll still be available to answer inquiries by phone or email.
