Fun Diving at Uchiura Beach in Sue!
Today, we headed to Uchiura Beach in the Sue area on Kii-Oshima Island with our returning guest from yesterday!
Over two days, our guest enjoyed diving in both Kushimoto and Sue, experiencing two different underwater environments.
The water in Sue was slightly cooler than in Kushimoto, at around 23.5°C. However, the weather was warm, so diving in a wetsuit was still comfortable!
Uchiura Beach is a seasonal dive site that opens only during the cooler months. As winter approaches, the variety of marine life continues to increase.
This was our second visit to Uchiura Beach this season, and we encountered some different marine life from our previous visit!
A Cute Oriental flying guarnard Appeared!
Today, we finally encountered a Oriental flying guarnard again!
It was a cute little individual, about 5 cm long.
Although it's a fish, it moves along the seabed almost as if it's walking!
With its big eyes and beautiful patterns on its pectoral fins, it's a popular subject among underwater photographers.
Isn't the blue gradient on its fins beautiful?
Yellow pygmy goby and Plenty of Crustaceans!
When you think of Uchiura Beach, Yellow pygmy goby is one of the first fish that comes to mind!
You can find them in various spots around this beach.
Today, we mainly observed individuals living inside Astralium haematragum.
It's not easy to get close enough for photos with a compact camera, but if you wait patiently, they eventually come out!
There are also plenty of crustaceans around at the moment!
We found Zanzibar Whip Coral Shrimp living on wire coral.
We've also seen many of these shrimp in Kushimoto this year, so they can be observed in both areas.
During our third dive, a strong current brought in water that significantly reduced visibility.
However, with so much interesting macro marine life to discover, we still had a great time enjoying all three dives!
As we enter the second half of October, large schools of Blackspotted cardinalfish have started appearing in the shallower areas.
Today, we also spotted Japanese amberjack and Greater amberjack swimming around!
We expect schools of Japanese jack mackerel to increase soon, making Uchiura Beach an exciting dive site for both wide-angle and macro photography!

At Aqua Vista Kushimoto, we offer not only boat diving in Kushimoto but also fun diving at Uchiura Beach in Sue during its seasonal opening!
