Fun Diving in Sue and Kushimoto – Our First Uchiura Beach Dive of the Season and the Limited-Time Ando-no-Hana Dive Site

Fun Diving at Uchiura Beach and Ando-no-Hana Today

The first weekend of October brought us beautiful sunny weather and a calm sea!!
Today, we split into two teams and went fun diving in Kushimoto and Sue.

Our Sue team enjoyed one boat dive first, and then headed to Uchiura Beach, which opened for the season on October 1st!!

It wasn’t too crowded, so we were able to enjoy a relaxing dive. Visibility was around 7–8m, which was better than we had heard beforehand, and we had a great time diving there (^^)

At the boat dive site, we found plenty of cute macro marine life.

Long nose hawkfish can also be seen around Kushimoto, and in Sue, we can find them from adults to juveniles!!

Right next to it, a Softcoral goby was quietly hiding as well!!

Softcoral goby is a type of goby that is usually found at relatively deep depths. They quickly hide between the soft corals, so sometimes you need a little patience to get a good photo (^^;)

With their beautiful body colors and the colorful soft corals in the background, they are very popular with underwater photographers!!

Another species we encountered many times today was Rhinolepadichthys geminus. Although its Japanese name includes “feather star,” many of them were hiding between the spines of Long-spined urchin.

The last one we found was sitting on a beautiful feather star, making it a perfect subject for photography!!

At Uchiura Beach, Yellow pygmy goby have appeared again this year.
Last year, we could also see them in Kushimoto, but unfortunately we haven’t found them there this year. If you would like to see Yellow pygmy goby, please request Uchiura Beach when you make your reservation!!

We can find Yellow pygmy goby living in various places, including Pacific Star-shell and cans.

Of course, we couldn’t forget to search for nudibranchs in Sue. Today, we found a tiny Tambja amakusana juvenile, one of the species that tells us the nudibranch season is beginning!!!

It was only about 2mm in size. It is one of my favorite species, so even when they are this tiny, I can recognize them as soon as they come into view.

Uchiura Beach is a seasonal dive site that is open until the end of March, while Ando-no-Hana in Kushimoto is open for a limited time until October 19th.

Ando-no-Hana is a popular seasonal dive site with great potential. It is home to the original Tomato Grouper reef, and rare marine life is discovered there every year!!

The water is still a little murky this year due to the effects of the typhoon, but once the visibility improves, Ando-no-Hana becomes a fun dive site where every dive feels like a treasure hunt!!

From this month, we have another interesting dive site to enjoy in addition to Ando-no-Hana. If you would like to dive at Uchiura Beach, please let us know when you make your reservation.

Uchiura Beach will become even more interesting as we head toward winter, so we are looking forward to seeing what we can find there this season.
