Fun Diving in Kushimoto – Relaxed Small-Group Underwater Photography

Enjoying Fun Diving in Kushimoto in Summer-Like Weather

After the typhoon passed, we had beautiful weather in Kushimoto, and it felt like summer again.

With such perfect weather, we headed out for some fun diving!

For our first dive of the morning, we had a one-on-one session to practice underwater photography.

Our guest had only used their compact camera a few times, so we mainly focused on practicing macro photography.

When it comes to the TG series, the Microscope Mode is definitely one of the best features!

We started by taking plenty of time to practice how to shoot using Microscope Mode!!

There are a few tricks to getting good shots, and once you get the hang of them, you can photograph smaller and smaller marine life♪

Our guest became quicker and more confident with the camera with each dive.

By the end of the day, they had really mastered Microscope Mode!

On our second dive, we found a tiny juvenile Hexabranchus lacer for some more practice.

I also learned something new today. I had no idea that Hexabranchus lacer have visible eyespots?!

When taking underwater photos with a TG camera, have you ever wondered, “Which mode should I use?”

Today, our guest also learned when to switch between Macro Mode and Microscope Mode.

From the second dive, we made things a little more challenging and practiced photographing moving marine life.

We found a juvenile black-and-gold chromis holding strong despite the swell from the typhoon.

This was a fish that we hardly saw during the Kuroshio Large Meander. We found one again for the first time in several years, and it has continued to grow well since then!!

For our final dive, the westerly wind started getting stronger, so we headed to a dive site sheltered from the wind.

This site has plenty of coral, and at this time of year, we can see many juvenile butterflyfish.

Butterflyfish often swim in and out of the gaps between the corals, so photographing them requires a little patience. But if you watch carefully, you can start to notice patterns in the way they move.

Watching how fish move and waiting for the right moment to take a photo is one of the great things about underwater photography!!

We also saw a black and white snapper that has grown quite large. This year, we have been able to observe many southern species that have grown significantly in Kushimoto!!

If you are thinking about diving in the warm waters of Kushimoto, influenced by the Kuroshio Current, please feel free to contact us.
