More Marine Life Appearing at Uchiura Beach! Fun Diving in Kushimoto and Sue

More and More Marine Life Appearing at Uchiura Beach!!!

Today, we split into two teams again for some fun diving—one in Kushimoto and the other at Uchiura Beach in Sue!!

I was in charge of the Sue Fun diving team!!

Uchiura Beach was a little murky yesterday, but the conditions improved significantly today♪

On our first dive, visibility reached around 15m in some areas, making for a really comfortable dive.

Some of our guests were diving with us for a second day, so we went looking for marine life that we hadn’t seen yesterday.

The highlight for our guests today was a school of Schooling bannerfish.

Actually, just yesterday we were talking about how we wanted to see them again after such a long time. And then they appeared today!!

Perfect timing♪

This is such a typical scene for this time of year!! The water is still warm, and there are plenty of colorful fish swimming around!!!

We’ve posted a video on our Instagram, so be sure to check it out!!

We also visited an area where you can see a school of Deepsea Fairy Basslet, one of the characteristic sights of Uchiura Beach.

There was also a school of Spotnape Cardinalfish nearby, making this an area packed with fish.

The bottom here is muddy sand, so be careful not to stir it up!!!

Of course, we also found plenty of macro life!!

In the past, I didn’t really think of Uchiura Beach as a place to search for nudibranchs. But since discovering last year that you can find them if you look carefully, I’ve been searching for them every time I dive here. Today, I found a Verconia subnivalis measuring only around 1mm!!

With a camera, you can make out its rhinophores, but spotting them with the naked eye is pretty challenging (^^;)

It’s about the size of something you’d see on an eye test chart!! Nudibranch season is just around the corner!!

The water is still warm enough to dive comfortably in a wetsuit, and juvenile fish from warmer waters are still swimming around actively.

Today, we found a juvenile Lesson's thicklip, which can also be seen around Kushimoto.
The way it swims while fluttering its pectoral fins is really cute♪

Finally, we received information from Koma-chan at Sue Diving Center about a Ghost pipefish that was found yesterday, so we went to check it out.

It was a relatively large individual, making it easy to observe and photograph!!

It was in shallow water, though, so we had to be careful not to float up too much (^^;)

Over the past two days, we’ve explored Uchiura Beach from one end to the other, but there is still so much more to discover at this dive site. I definitely want to spend more time diving here.

If you’re planning to dive in Kushimoto, we also recommend adding a dive at the seasonal Uchiura Beach to your trip!!

We accept requests for diving at Uchiura Beach from October through March, so please feel free to contact us.

Tomorrow, we’ll be back in the Kushimoto area for some fun diving.
It’ll be our first time diving in Kushimoto in two days, and we’re looking forward to enjoying three dives!!!

See you (^^)
