AOW Course and Refresher Diving in Kushimoto
Another day of calm seas and great diving conditions here in Kushimoto!
Unfortunately, we had some on-and-off rain today, but the visibility was good and the underwater conditions were great♪
Today, we had a guest from Poland who lives in Japan joining us for an AOW course, while another team enjoyed a refresher diving course!!
It was our AOW guest’s first dive in five months, so we started the course by reviewing some diving skills.
Our first dive was Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive, and the guest was really good at using the compass (^^)
Both the reciprocal compass navigation and square pattern were completed in no time!!
For the second dive, we practiced neutral buoyancy at Ando-no-Hana, which is open for a limited time.
At first, the guest tended to lose balance when stopping, but by the end of the dive, they had much better control of their buoyancy.
We still have another day tomorrow, so we’ll practice neutral buoyancy again!! Hopefully, by the end of the course, the guest will be able to control both buoyancy and balance with confidence.
During the neutral buoyancy section, once we finished practicing buoyancy control, it was time to enjoy some fun diving.
First, we found a large spiny lobster!! On cloudy or rainy days, creatures that usually stay hidden in the shadows of rocks sometimes come out into easier-to-see areas.
That can lead to some nice encounters♪
After that, we finally met the giant frogfish that we had heard was around!!
It has been just over a week since Ando-no-Hana opened, and we’re gradually starting to find more marine life there!!
We’re really looking forward to seeing what else we can find in the coming weeks (^^)
On the refresher team’s first dive, they also enjoyed observing various marine life, including Sagaminopteron psychedelicum!!
The more we dive at the beach, the more new discoveries we make♪
The more you dive at the same site, the more new things you discover♪ That’s one of the great things about diving!!
We’re keeping an eye on the path of Typhoon No. 26, but today it seemed that clear water was coming in from offshore, giving us good visibility at the beach♪ We’re looking forward to seeing how the ocean conditions develop from here.
Water temperatures have remained high this year, so it looks like the wetsuit season may last a little longer!!
We have also introduced boat coats, so you can stay warmer on the boat between dives.
From the second half of October, there are usually fewer divers around, making it a great time to enjoy relaxed diving in Kushimoto.
