Fun Diving in Kushimoto – Good Visibility Despite the Swell

Another International Day with Guests from New Countries!

Today, the swell from Typhoon No. 18 arrived in Kushimoto in full force.

There was quite a bit of movement underwater at times, making the conditions a little challenging.

But the visibility remained around 10–12 meters, and the water temperature reached 28.9°C, almost 29°C!!

Despite the swell, we were able to complete three dives today.

We also welcomed guests from two countries we had never had guests from before: Luxembourg and Estonia!!

It was another international team enjoying fun diving in the waters of Kushimoto!

Right now, we can see schools of Silver striped round herrings everywhere around Kushimoto.

Watching huge schools of Silver striped round herrings with the sunlight shining through the water is an incredible sight!!

Since yesterday, we have also been seeing schools of Mahimahi around the nearby dive sites.

Once the swell settles down and the visibility improves, they should make great subjects for wide-angle photography and become very popular with our guests(^^)

Today, because of the strong swell, we introduced fewer macro subjects than usual.

When the visibility is good but there is a strong swell, we often focus more on wide-angle diving.

However, if you have a request, we are always happy to show you macro subjects even when there is a swell!!

One of our guests today was practicing macro photography, so we introduced some Nudibranchs and Blenny.

One of them was Goniobranchus albonares.

When you see them holding on in the swell, you almost want to help them.

But they are probably much better at dealing with the swell than we are!

All we can do is watch over them(^^;)

There is plenty to enjoy between fun dives in Kushimoto right now too!!

A huge number of Spotted jellyfish are currently appearing inside the harbor!!!

While waiting for the boat to depart, you can even enjoy taking photos of them from the surface.

From the surface to underwater, there is so much to see in Kushimoto at this time of year!!

Tomorrow morning, we are scheduled for a refresher dive, followed by fun diving in the afternoon.

Hopefully, the swell will calm down by tomorrow!

We have also had some cancellations for September 19, 20, and 21 during Silver Week, so we now have availability on those dates.
