Another Juvenile Bicolour parrotfish Found in Kushimoto!
We had beautiful weather from the morning today, making it a perfect day for diving♪
Once again, we split into two teams for Discover Scuba Diving and fun diving, enjoying everything from beach diving to boat diving in Kushimoto!
At the boat dive sites, the water temperature was in the high 27°C range, with good visibility of around 15 meters.
At the beach dive site, the water temperature was over 28°C and almost felt like a warm bath!
The conditions are still great for Discover Scuba Diving.
During our fun dives, we found another juvenile Bicolour parrotfish today!
This one was even smaller than the individual we found yesterday, measuring only about 5 mm.
I had just found a nudibranch and called our guests over to take a look. Then I looked down and spotted the tiny イBicolour parrotfish!
It was such an exciting find that I couldn’t help shouting, “Ohhh!!” underwater! (^^)
The nudibranch we had been looking at just before finding the Bicolour parrotfish was Verconia nivalis.
I was so excited about finding the Bicolour parrotfish that I completely forgot to take a photo of the Verconia nivalis, so the photo below is from a previous dive.
We are still finding plenty of nudibranchs even in summer this year, making Kushimoto a great destination for divers who love searching for small marine life.
From Tiny Marine Life to Huge Schools of Fish
It’s not only about macro life right now. Kushimoto is also offering some exciting wide-angle scenes!
At one of our nearby dive sites, a huge school of Silver striped round herrings gathered around the reef near the anchor.
Bluespotted cornetfish, Decapterus muroadsi and Rainbow runner were attacking the school, creating an exciting underwater scene!
There may actually be more Silver striped round herrings around our nearby dive sites than at the offshore sites right now.
One of our guests had an Insta360, so it must have been a fantastic opportunity to capture the action!

The underwater season in Kushimoto is now entering one of its best periods, with everything from unusual juvenile fish to large fish and big schools appearing around the dive sites.
Great diving conditions continue through September and October, and it is still possible to dive in a wetsuit through October.
If you are planning a diving trip to Japan, September and October are great months to experience the increasingly abundant fish life of Kushimoto!
