Diving in Kushimoto with Guests from Japan and Hawaii
It was a rainy day in Kushimoto today, but the underwater conditions were still great!
Visibility was around 15 meters, and the water temperature remained around 27°C.
Today, we went fun diving with another international team — a Japanese guest and guests originally from the Philippines who now live in Hawaii!
We enjoyed another great day exploring the underwater world of Kushimoto.
Finally Found the JuvenileBicolour parrotfish
On our first dive, we finally found theBaby Bicolour parrotfish that we had been searching for!!!
This is the season when we start seeing more juvenile fish from southern waters, including Bicolour parrotfish, but they seem to be appearing earlier this year than last year.
The one we found today was only about 1 cm in size.
Such a cute little fish♪
Finding one at this size made our day! (^^)
Looking for Harlequin shrimp on Our Second Dive
Our second dive was also mainly focused on macro life.
At our guest’s request, we went to see the Harlequin shrimp.
We thought one pair had disappeared for a while, but it seems they managed to survive despite the swell and being covered with sand.
And today, they were back!
They were in a slightly difficult spot for photography, but we can still see two pairs at the moment.
Tiny Nudibranchs Are Still Around
At the end of each dive, we spent some time searching for nudibranchs.
Most of the nudibranchs we are seeing at this time of year are extremely small, so finding them can be challenging.
But we are still finding different species every day!
On our first dive, we found Murphydoris adusta, a nudibranch without a Japanese name.
It was around 3 mm in size.
Recently, we have been seeing quite a few Goniodoridella and Murphydoris species.
On our second dive, we found Aegires exeches.
This species is very good at camouflage.
This one was also around 3 mm in size.
We are still seeing plenty of nudibranchs even in summer♪
From Tiny Marine Life to Schools of Fish
Of course, Kushimoto is not only about small marine life.
We can also enjoy various schools of fish.
We are seeing schools of Stripy Butterfly fish and Sea Goldie, and when we head to the offshore dive sites, we can also see schools of Green fish around the reefs.
Right now, Kushimoto offers everything from macro and wide-angle diving to searching for extremely tiny marine life!
The Diving Season in Kushimoto Is Still Going Strong!
The Obon holiday period is over, and we now have some availability on weekdays.
On quieter days, it can be easier to take your time with underwater photography or practice your diving skills.
