We Enjoyed Both the Ocean and the River Over the Past Two Days!
Yesterday was so busy that I didn’t have time to write the blog…
So today, I’ll share updates from both yesterday and today.
The Obon holiday season has started, and many guests have been joining us for Discover Scuba Diving, fun diving, and river diving.
Yesterday, we went fun diving for the first time since the typhoon.
We were wondering whether the waves had swept away the Harlequin Shrimp, but luckily, we found it safe and sound!
And we also had a guest celebrating a special milestone dive♪
An amazing 600 dives!!!

River Diving in Koza River in Search of Japanese Giant Salamander
Today, we split into two teams, with one heading to the river and the other to the ocean.
For the river diving team, we went in search of Japanese Giant Salamander.
The water level in the river is currently very low, and the visibility is excellent!!
The water temperature is around 20°C, so it feels quite cool. If you get cold easily, we recommend wearing a hooded vest.
One of the attractions of river diving is the underwater scenery.
It is completely different from what you see in the ocean.
It is also interesting to take photos with a sepia-like look!!
Unfortunately, we didn’t encounter an Japanese Giant Salamander showing its face this time, but we were able to observe its tail and body!!
This is a protected natural monument, and even being able to see its body is lucky.
It is a wild animal, so which part we get to see is entirely up to the animal.
Perhaps one of the best parts of river diving is enjoying the experience, including whether or not we get to see one（＾＾）
Fun Diving in Kushimoto with Guests from the UK
Meanwhile, the ocean team went fun diving with a parent and child visiting from the UK.
They were both very skilled divers!

They weren’t able to travel to Okinawa, so they chose to dive with us in Kushimoto instead.
I hope diving in Kushimoto became a great memory from their trip to Japan.
On the final boat dive, we also saw the Paracentropyge venusta hiding next to the Harlequin Shrimp for the first time in a while.
It swims around right next to our guests while they are taking photos.
It doesn’t get much attention, but it is a tough little one that has survived three typhoons this year.
Tomorrow, a typhoon taking an unusual course toward the Kansai region is expected to approach.
However, according to the current forecast, the winds are not expected to be very strong, so it looks like we should be able to dive as planned!!
The typhoons have kept us on our toes throughout the Obon holiday period this week, but fortunately, we have still managed to get underwater.
The main Obon holiday period starts tomorrow and continues through August 16, and we will be welcoming many guests.
Our two staff members will be doing our very best to guide everyone throughout the Obon holidays!!
