A Guest from France Experienced the Best of Kushimoto Blue
Today, we enjoyed fun diving in Kushimoto with a guest visiting Japan from France.
The conditions were excellent, with visibility of around 25 meters and water temperatures between 27–28°C.
Thanks to the Kuroshio Current, the ocean remains warm and crystal clear.
Everyone naturally smiles when diving in such beautiful blue water. You can see the excitement in our guest’s face.
Diving in these clear conditions is always a special experience.
Our guest was especially lucky to visit during such amazing conditions while traveling in Japan.
As if that wasn’t enough, we also had an unexpected encounter with an Green sea turtle.
It even swam directly beneath our guest, giving us a perfect close-up view.
The photo captures the exact moment our guest gently moved aside to avoid the turtle.
Kushimoto, located at the southernmost tip of Japan’s main island, is one of the few places where you can enjoy diving alongside sea turtles.
It’s a tropical-style diving destination that can be reached by car from Osaka or Nagoya.
The blue offshore water brought in by the Kuroshio Current has attracted many different fish species.
Today, we spotted an unfamiliar fish.
After checking, we identified it as White mouth jack.
It is a southern species also found around places such as Palau, reminding us once again of the strong influence of the Kuroshio Current.
This summer, more and more tropical species have been appearing in Kushimoto.
Many of this year’s fish also seem larger than usual.
One impressive example was a huge Spotted moray eel. Its body was incredibly thick, and our guest was amazed by its size.
Our final highlight of the day was our first encounter this season with Harequin shrimp.
This could be a great year for Harlequin Shrimp. It reminded us of the past when several pairs could be found at a single dive site.
We’re excited to see what the rest of the season will bring.
We’ll be back in the water again tomorrow for another day of fun diving.
With crystal-clear visibility, warm water, and an incredible variety of marine life, Kushimoto is in fantastic condition right now.
If you’re planning a diving trip to Japan, this is one of the best times to experience the underwater world of Kushimoto.
