Experience the Kuroshio Current and One of Japan’s Most Precious Natural Treasures
On the second day of the holiday weekend, we welcomed many international guests and enjoyed diving in both the ocean around Kushimoto and the Koza River.
In the morning, we went boat fun diving in Kushimoto. In the afternoon, we headed to the Koza River for Japanese Giant Salamander diving.
It was a special day that allowed us to enjoy both the ocean and the river.
The water temperature in Kushimoto was between 26°C and 28°C, making it comfortable to dive in a wetsuit.
Visibility was also good in the morning, and we enjoyed a relaxing dive in the beautiful blue water.
Kushimoto is influenced by the Kuroshio Current. Because of this, both temperate and tropical marine life can be found here.
One of the main attractions of diving in Kushimoto is the chance to see many different species during a single dive.
During today’s dives, we observed small nudibranchs, Harlequin shrimp, large Japanese spiny lobster, and a school of Striped butterflyfish.
The school of Striped Butterflyfish is especially popular with international divers. Seeing such a large school at a relatively shallow depth is unusual, and many of our guests enjoyed taking photos of them.
In the afternoon, we moved to the Koza River to search for the Japanese Giant Salamander , a special natural monument found only in Japan.
The river remained clear despite the recent rain. The first individual quickly hid behind the rocks, but the second one slowly showed us its face.
Everyone was able to observe its cute eyes at close range, making it a memorable diving experience.
One of the special attractions of the Kushimoto area is the chance to enjoy both the ocean and the river.
In the ocean, you can explore coral reefs and observe a wide variety of marine life. In the river, you can search for one of Japan’s most precious freshwater animals.
This experience is highly recommended for divers looking for something different from a regular ocean diving trip.
From August to October, the number of fish continues to increase. It is one of the best seasons for both wide-angle scenery and macro photography.
