Water Temperatures of 26–28°C! Perfect Conditions for Macro Life and Juvenile Fish
The three-day holiday has started today.
We divided into two groups and enjoyed fun diving in both Kushimoto and Koza.
The water temperature was 25–28°C in Kushimoto and 26°C in Koza, making it very comfortable to dive in a wetsuit. Visibility was also improving, and the conditions look likely to become even better over the coming days.
In Kushimoto, we found a Cerberilla affinis for the first time in a while.
It was laying eggs when we found it, so we were also able to observe its eggs.
This was a rare scene that we do not often get to see, making it a very memorable dive.

This season is also a great time to observe Meiacanthus kamoharai caring for their eggs.
Today, we found one protecting its eggs inside a shell. We were able to take our time observing and photographing this fascinating behavior.

We are also starting to see more nudibranchs again, including Cratena sp. 2 and Pikachu nudibranch.
These nudibranchs are sensitive to ocean swells, so their return is a good sign that the sea conditions are becoming calmer.
Even during summer, Kushimoto continues to offer plenty of interesting subjects for macro diving.
On the final dive of the day, we also found a small and adorable Blacksaddle filefish.

Juvenile fish, including tiny Anemone fish and Damselfishes, are becoming more common.
This is the season when the ocean becomes filled with many small and colorful fish.
Kushimoto is influenced by the Kuroshio Current, allowing divers to enjoy both wide-angle scenery and macro marine life.
In a single day, you may see coral reefs, colorful fish, seasonal juvenile fish, and fascinating small marine life.
We still have availability on selected dates from late July through August.
Those planning a summer diving trip in Japan are warmly invited to visit Kushimoto.
We offer fun diving, introductory diving, and PADI certification courses with English-speaking support.
