Fun Diving in Kushimoto | Anemonefish Spawning and Crystal Blue Water with 20m Visibility

Refresh Diving in the Morning, Fun Boat Diving with an International Team in the Afternoon

Today, we enjoyed both a Refresh Diving course and Fun Boat Diving in Kushimoto.
The weather was beautiful, and sea conditions improved dramatically compared to yesterday.

In Kushimoto, there is a local saying called “Ochi Nagi,” which refers to the calm sea conditions that often occur before rain arrives.
Today was one of those lucky days.

Our two guests joined us for a Refresh Diving course to review their diving skills.
However, just like yesterday’s guests, they quickly demonstrated excellent buoyancy control and confidence underwater.
Before long, they were ready to enjoy fun diving again.

The beach site was slightly affected by yesterday’s swell, making the water a little cloudy, but we were still able to encounter a variety of marine life.

It had been a long time since these guests had last dived in Kushimoto, and they were delighted to find such enjoyable conditions.

In the afternoon, our returning guest from Canada joined us, creating a truly international diving team.

Before the dive, one of our guests mentioned that they hoped to see nudibranchs, so we spent the first dive searching for them.
During the period of the Kuroshio Current meander, nudibranch sightings became less common, but recently we have been seeing them much more frequently again.
It is a good sign that nutrient-rich ocean water is reaching Kushimoto.

With water temperatures now stable around 24°C, many fish species are displaying courtship behavior and spawning activity throughout the area.

One of the highlights of the day was witnessing a clownfish spawning event.
These moments can only be seen when timing and conditions are just right.
Even as we carefully observed nearby, the clownfish continued laying eggs.
Our guests were incredibly fortunate to experience such a special underwater moment.

Then, during the final boat dive of the day, Kushimoto Blue arrived.

Clear ocean water flowed in from offshore, raising the water temperature to the mid-24°C range and transforming the underwater visibility.

The ocean, which had appeared slightly hazy after the recent typhoon, suddenly became brilliantly blue.

The photos from this dive are completely unedited. We hope this beautiful blue water continues through the weekend.

Interestingly, when heavy rain is forecast in the news, the day before can sometimes offer surprisingly calm sea conditions.

If you find yourself with a free day, it may be the perfect opportunity to visit Kushimoto and enjoy diving like we did today.

We offer Refresh Diving, Fun Diving, and Discover Scuba Diving every day.

Whether you are a certified diver returning to the water after a break or trying diving for the first time, we would be happy to welcome you.

We are looking forward to another exciting weekend of diving in Kushimoto!
