Fun Diving in Kushimoto, Japan – One-on-One Diving with 20m Visibility

Enjoying the Beautiful Underwater World of Kushimoto with a Guest from the USA!

Today was the first day after the long weekend, and I went fun diving with a guest from the USA!

It was a relaxed one-on-one diving day, and the visibility was amazing in the morning, reaching 20m! (^^)

In the afternoon, the water became a little cloudy, but visibility was still around 12–15m. The conditions were great!

Our guest brought a GoPro, so we enjoyed three dives focusing mainly on wide-angle scenes, with some macro life along the way. (^^)

With such good visibility, our guest had plenty of opportunities to explore and take videos freely. It was great to see how much fun they were having!

Beautiful Visibility and Impressive Schools of Fish!

One of the highlights of the morning dive was a huge school of Scalpal sawtail.

Our guest told me it was the biggest school of fish they had ever seen since they started diving! It was definitely an unforgettable sight!

The schools of Butterflyfish have disappeared for now, but the schools of Scalpal sawtail are keeping divers entertained instead!

At another dive site, the schools of Yellow goatfish were looking great too!

Over the past few days, visibility inside the bay seems to have been better than at the offshore dive sites. The fish also seem to be gathering in beautiful, tightly packed schools.

During our safety stop, a school of Yellowtail bule snapper appeared, almost as if they had come to say hello!

From entry to exit, it was a wonderful day surrounded by schools of fish! (^^)

Plenty of Macro Life Too! A New Discovery Underwater!

There is also plenty of interesting macro life to enjoy between the wide-angle scenes!

The Harlewuin shrimp that has been staying at the dive site for a long time seems to be gradually getting used to divers.

We can now get quite close to take photos!

Its beautiful pale pink color makes it a popular subject among underwater photographers. (^^)

And today, I discovered a new Sharp-eye pygmygoby!

Maybe it's the power of the Kuroshio Current, but we've been seeing so many different marine creatures this year!

This beautiful goby has markings above its eyes that look just like eyeshadow.

It can be sensitive to light, so please be gentle and considerate when taking photos.

Autumn is also the season when juvenile fish gradually grow bigger.

We've been seeing more Japanese inflator filefishthat have been growing nicely.

Today, I found one swimming beside a beautiful Wrightella tongaensis.

Nudibranchs Are Becoming Easier to Find!

And finally, nudibranchs!

With calm sea conditions continuing, nudibranchs have become easier to observe as they move around and feed.

Today, I tried to show our guest some larger nudibranchs. (lol)

Why?

Because our guest was filming with a GoPro!

There are so many nudibranchs this year that we can introduce not only tiny ones but also larger individuals to suit different photography styles!

The water is still warm enough for wetsuit diving throughout October, and our free drysuit rental campaign starts next month!

With such a wonderful variety of marine life around Kushimoto right now, it's a great time to come diving!

We hope to see you underwater soon!
