Enjoying Three One-on-One Fun Dives in the Sea of Kushimoto
We had another beautiful sunny day today.
The sea was calm, and we enjoyed comfortable fun diving in Kushimoto.
The water temperature remained warm. It was over 28°C above a depth of 7 meters and around 25°C near the bottom.
It was very hot on land, so the conditions were perfect for comfortable diving in a wetsuit.
Today, I enjoyed three dives in Kushimoto with one guest.
Weekdays after a Japanese holiday period are highly recommended.
There is a greater chance of diving in a small group or even one-on-one.
Our guest’s request today was to relax and enjoy the underwater world at an easy pace.
So, the two of us took our time and enjoyed three relaxing dives in the sea of Kushimoto.
During the first dive, we came across several Dardanus crassimanus fighting over their homes.
For some reason, a larger Dardanus crassimanus was trying to take the shell of a smaller one.
Normally, you would expect it to move into a larger shell.
However, it must have really liked that particular home!
They completely ignored us while we watched.
Eventually, it became a three-way battle, and we could not help watching for a while.
This is also the season when Butterflyfish sometimes gather in groups at certain dive sites.
Today, they were spread out, but we saw a group of around 100 swimming through the water.
Groups of Butterflyfish can sometimes be seen around the end of the coral spawning season.
It is a special sight that can only be enjoyed during a limited period of the year.
We continued our relaxing underwater walk during the second dive.
Along the way, we decided to search for some tiny nudibranchs.
Then we found a Facelina bourailli measuring around 1 mm!
Its shape looked very similar to the sponge above it.
We almost mistook it for part of the sponge and swam straight past it.
When you look at the photo, don’t you think the sponge above and the nudibranch below look very similar?
The calm sea conditions have continued.
We are now finding nudibranchs more frequently, from individuals as tiny as the one in the photo to much larger ones.
For our final dive, we enjoyed the warm water in a shallow area.
Two large Green sea turtle were resting close to each other.
They quickly swam away, so we could not determine whether they were male or female.
However, they may have been a pair.
As we move further into the middle of summer, there should be more opportunities to encounter sea turtles.
This is a great season for anyone hoping to swim with them!
Many people may not know this, but it is also possible to swim with sea turtles in Kushimoto.
The marine life appears to be returning to its usual daily activity.
We expect to see an even greater variety of marine life as the season continues.
Thankfully, we have already received many reservations for the second half of July and throughout August.
However, we still have availability on some weekdays in July and on selected dates in August.
The water in Kushimoto is becoming warmer, and the fish are becoming more active.
