Fun Diving in Kushimoto Before the Typhoon | Clear Water and Happy Divers

Diving with Guests from Sweden Before the Typhoon

Today we welcomed a family from Sweden for a day of fun diving in Kushimoto.

The weather was rainy from the morning, but underwater conditions were surprisingly good. As Typhoon No. 7 continues to approach Japan, we could gradually feel the swell increasing throughout the day. Even so, visibility remained excellent, and we enjoyed comfortable dives before the sea conditions change.

Visibility was around 15 meters, and the water temperature was approximately 23°C. With the cooler air temperature, the ocean actually felt warmer than expected.

One of the highlights of the day was the impressive visibility. The blue water made schools of fish stand out beautifully, creating perfect conditions for underwater photography and sightseeing.

Large groups of Banded boarfish were gathered around the reefs. They have become a common sight in the nearby dive sites recently, and seeing so many together is always impressive. We hope they remain in the area even after the typhoon passes.

We also encountered growing numbers of Striped butterflyfish. These resilient fish successfully made it through the previous typhoon and continue to add bright colors to the underwater landscape.

With visibility this good, it was easy to capture both divers and marine life in the same frame. Days like this remind us how beautiful Kushimoto’s underwater world can be.

The macro life was just as interesting. This season is a great time to observe fish breeding behavior, and we found several Ostorhinchus holotaenia carrying eggs in their mouths. Photographing them can be challenging because their mouths are quite small, but with patience and good timing, it is possible to capture the eggs on camera.

Another exciting find was Paracentropyge venusta. Many individuals are shy and quickly retreat when approached, but if you wait quietly, they often reappear. Patience is often rewarded when photographing these small reef fish.

Although a typhoon is approaching, today was a reminder of how enjoyable diving in Kushimoto can be before changing weather conditions arrive. In fact, visibility often improves shortly before a typhoon reaches the area, and today’s conditions were a perfect example.

The smiles from our guests said it all. Clear blue water, healthy marine life, and relaxed diving made for a wonderful day underwater.

Thank you very much to our guests who traveled all the way from Sweden to dive with us. We truly appreciate your visit and hope you enjoyed exploring the underwater world of Kushimoto.

Temporary Closure Due to Approaching Typhoons

Due to the effects of Typhoons No. 7 and No. 8, AquaVista Kushimoto will be temporarily closed for the next two days.

We currently plan to resume diving operations on Monday, depending on sea conditions and safety assessments.

We will respond to inquiries on Sunday during the temporary closure period. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.

The forecast suggests a similar track to the recent Typhoon No. 6, so we hope everyone stays safe and take care during the coming days.

We look forward to welcoming divers back to Kushimoto once the ocean settles down again.
