Calm Snorkeling at Izumo Beach Despite Rough Sea Conditions
Today, we enjoyed a family snorkeling tour in Kushimoto with guests visiting from the United States.
Although waves and swell continued to affect parts of the Kushimoto coastline, we were able to move to Izumo Beach on the east side of the peninsula, where the sea was calm and perfect for snorkeling.
One of the unique features of Kushimoto is that sea conditions can vary significantly within a short distance. Even when the west side is affected by strong swell, sheltered locations on the east side often provide excellent conditions for snorkeling and diving.
At Izumo Beach, our guests were able to enjoy a relaxing snorkeling experience in clear, calm water.
During the tour, we observed many colorful fish, including Neon Damselfish, as well as beautiful coral communities that have developed under the influence of the warm Kuroshio Current. Kushimoto is known for having one of the northernmost coral communities in the world, making it a fascinating destination for marine life enthusiasts.
We were also lucky enough to find Anemonefish, which quickly became one of the highlights of the day.
The two daughters were especially excited. Every time they spotted a fish, they could not hide their enthusiasm and could be heard calling out through their snorkels. Seeing their excitement made the tour even more enjoyable for us.
As international tourism to Japan continues to grow, we are delighted to welcome more visitors from around the world to experience the ocean of Kushimoto. Located within easy reach of Osaka, Kyoto, and the Kansai region, Kushimoto offers a unique opportunity to explore Japan’s rich marine environment away from the crowds of the major cities.
Tomorrow, we will be welcoming more international guests for introductory diving experiences, and we are looking forward to another great day in the water.
If you are planning a trip to Japan and are looking for snorkeling or diving opportunities near Osaka or Kyoto, Kushimoto is an excellent destination.
We offer snorkeling tours, introductory diving experiences, fun diving, and refresher diving courses for visitors of all experience levels.
If you are unsure which course is right for you, feel free to contact us. We would be happy to help you plan your underwater adventure in Kushimoto.
