Another Great Day on Our Tide Pool Tour!!
Today’s forecast called for rain… but instead, Kushimoto surprised us with beautiful sunny weather!
With comfortable temperatures and perfect conditions, we headed out for another tide pool photography tour.
Of course, today’s main target was Barred-chin blenny.
One of the best things about tide pool photography is that we do not use scuba tanks, so there is no strict time limit underwater. Before we knew it, we had already spent more than 1.5 hours completely focused on photographing Barred-chin blenny.
The area in these photos is actually considered one of the “deeper” spots of the tide pool.

Even then, the depth is less than 20 cm! It is a completely different underwater world compared to regular diving.
At this time of year, the tide pools become incredibly warm once the tide goes out.
The water temperature almost feels like a bath, and even in a wetsuit it can feel hot sometimes!
Because the water is so shallow, non-divers can also enjoy the experience as long as they are comfortable using a snorkel.
Barred-chin blenny can be photographed in many different ways.

Sometimes we take close-up portraits, and other times we change locations to capture completely different scenery and reflections. It is the kind of photography that makes you lose track of time.
Today, we also tried a different style of reflection photography compared to yesterday.
As the water temperature continues to rise, the Barred-chin blenny seem very active, searching for nests and feeding throughout the tide pools.

Sometimes they suddenly disappear while we are photographing them!

The individual in the photo above was living in water only around 2 cm deep.
But after guiding our guest back to the location, the fish had already moved somewhere else. It seems they are all searching for the most comfortable spots.
We would also like to share one photo taken by our guest today!
They worked hard in the extremely shallow water to capture a very cute shot. This tour is perfect for anyone who wants to take their time enjoying underwater photography in a unique environment.
Our next tide pool photography tour will be held from June 14th to 18th!
Diving in Kushimoto is fantastic this season, but why not also explore the fascinating world of ultra-shallow water?
Please feel free to contact us if you are interested in joining.
Tomorrow’s forecast suggests rough sea conditions in Kushimoto, so we will take a day off from ocean activities. See you next time!
