The Kushimoto Diving Festival Finished with Great Success!
Over the past two days, the annual “Kushimoto Diving Festival” was held in Kushimoto!
Many major diving equipment manufacturers joined the event, and guests had the chance to try the latest dive gear in the ocean. It is always one of the biggest diving events of the year in Kushimoto.
Last night, we also enjoyed a big raffle event with many great prizes. The entire weekend was full of excitement and smiles!
Because of the festival, we could not update the blog yesterday… sorry about that!
If you could not join us this year, we hope you will come next year(^^)
You might win some amazing prizes too!
The ocean conditions were excellent throughout both days. During some dives, the water temperature even reached 23°C.
The air temperature also felt like summer, and we suddenly started seeing many more wetsuit divers around Kushimoto.
As the water temperature rises, gobies become more active, and we were able to observe several kinds of Shrimp goby today.
Normally, nudibranch numbers start decreasing as summer approaches, but this year we are still seeing many species!
Today, we were even lucky enough to find Verconia purpurea.
On the second dive, we visited the outer reef area for the first time in a while.
Visibility offshore was beautiful, with plenty of fish and clear blue water.
Of course, schooling fish were everywhere, but one of the highlights of the outer reef was Boxer crab.
Thanks to the Kuroshio Current staying close to Kushimoto and the warmer winter water temperatures this year, we were able to find Boxer crab very quickly.
We can really feel the power of the Kuroshio Current in many parts of Kushimoto’s underwater world right now.
Over the two days, we enjoyed both wide-angle and macro diving — from turtles to nudibranchs and many other marine creatures.
There is so much to see in Kushimoto right now. Now we are just waiting for the water temperature to rise a little more!!!
Finally, thank you very much to everyone who joined us during the Diving Festival(^^)
We will continue fun diving again tomorrow.
Hopefully the water temperature keeps rising!
See you tomorrow!
