Kushimoto Coral Beach Diving

Today we enjoyed a fun dive at a beautiful coral beach in Kushimoto.

March is already coming to an end, and we are starting to see cherry blossoms blooming across Japan.
Spring is here, which means Golden Week is just around the corner.

If you are planning a trip to Kansai during this period, this beach is highly recommended.

This dive site is known for its stunning coral. Although some coral was affected by the Kuroshio Current meander in the past, it has been recovering well since last year and is gradually regaining its health.

With a wide-angle lens, you can capture a breathtaking view of table corals spreading across the seabed. It’s hard to believe this scenery exists on Honshu, but here in Kushimoto, the southernmost point of the main island, it’s a reality.

As we move further into the season, more tropical fish will arrive, making the underwater scenery even more vibrant.

This beach is also accessible for Discover Scuba Diving, so both certified divers and beginners can enjoy this unique environment.

From late June to July, coral spawning can also be observed, so the coming months offer even more highlights related to coral.

On the way to the site, we found Sagaminopteron ornatum slowly drifting along. It felt like a small sign of spring.

Near the exit, we also spotted Barred-chin blenny hiding in very shallow water, around 20 cm deep. On sunny days, you can even take photos with beautiful rainbow light.

Would you like to experience this incredible underwater scenery?

We are now accepting reservations for both fun diving and Discover Scuba Diving. Feel free to contact us anytime.
