Afternoon Waves Picked Up, But We Enjoyed a Full Day of Diving in Kushimoto!

Two Morning Fun Dives in Kushimoto

Yesterday, the Kushimoto area was closed due to stormy weather, but the conditions improved today and we were able to enjoy two dives in the morning.

The visibility still showed some effects from yesterday’s rough seas, but once underwater, the diving was comfortable and enjoyable.

Today’s fun diving guest joined us from Taiwan.
We originally considered looking for wide-angle subjects, but since the visibility had not fully recovered yet, we spent more time enjoying macro life instead.

One of the highlights today was Bornella anguilla.

This nudibranch is especially interesting because it can swim. Its movement looks almost like a sea snake underwater, which always surprises guests.

I personally did not see it today, but it seems that more Mexichromis aurora have appeared at the site where one individual has been staying for a long time.

One is around 1 cm, and another tiny one is only about 2 mm. I definitely want to see them soon!

Long-Staying Nudibranchs and Clownfish Eggs

Another nudibranch that has been staying in the same area for quite a while is Verconia sp. 1.
There are currently two individuals there, and they have probably been around for almost three months now.

Since the area is surrounded by their food source, they hardly move at all.

We are also starting to see more clownfish egg-laying activity around Kushimoto.
Many Anemone fishes are already protecting their eggs, and it feels like the underwater breeding season is finally beginning.

There should be many more exciting behavior scenes to observe in the coming weeks.

Afternoon Discover Scuba Diving with a Family

In the afternoon, we guided a Discover Scuba Diving course for a family visiting during Golden Week.

The feeling of breathing underwater for the first time is always special and exciting.

Hearing our guests say, “This is so fun!” reminded me of the very first time I went diving myself.

It was wonderful to see the family enjoying their first underwater adventure together.

Every Diving Course Has Its Own Fun

We guide many different courses including fun diving, Discover Scuba Diving, diving courses, and river diving.

Each course reminds me why I started diving in the first place, and every guest gives me new ideas and perspectives on how to enjoy the underwater world.

After Golden Week, the number of guests usually becomes a bit quieter, making it a great time to enjoy relaxed diving in Kushimoto.

We would love to welcome you to the ocean and rivers of Kushimoto!

Tomorrow, we are planning fun diving in the morning and Japanese Giant Salamanser diving in the afternoon.

See you underwater!
