Calm Seas and Sunny Skies for Fun Diving in Kushimoto

Diving with Guests from Poland and Malaysia Today

Another international day here in Kushimoto!

Since the second half of last month and into this month, we’ve been welcoming more and more guests from overseas.

Today, we enjoyed fun diving with guests from Poland and Malaysia.

The weather was beautiful, the sea was calm, and there was almost no wind — perfect diving conditions♪

Whenever I dive with international guests, we somehow seem to have lucky encounters underwater.

Today’s lucky moment was a huge school of Mullet fish and Hrmitriakis japanica!!

They suddenly appeared during our safety stop — and there were so many of them!!

The long line of fish continued for more than three minutes! Maybe international guests really do bring good luck to the ocean????

Another lucky moment for me personally was finding a tiny Pikachu nudibranch(Thecacera pacifica) that was just under 1 cm in size.

It looks much bigger in the photo, but it was actually very small and super cute♪

I’m sure there must be some “millimeter-sized Pikachu nudibranch(Thecacera pacifica)” hiding somewhere too. I’ll keep searching for the first super tiny Pikachu nudibranch(Thecacera pacifica) of the season!

And lastly, this one. It may look simple, but it’s a little unusual to see Pleurobranchus peronii out on top of the rocks like this.

Doesn’t its face kind of look like an old man with a beard??

The water temperature is still staying around 20°C, but with the air temperature getting warmer, I think we’ll start seeing more wetsuit divers soon.

Now that Golden Week has finished, the underwater world is becoming a little quieter again.

But after Golden Week, the next big event is coming soon — the “Kushimoto Diving Festival”!!

It’s a great opportunity to actually try diving equipment from various manufacturers in real ocean conditions.

We still have a few spots available, so if you’ve been thinking about testing new gear, considering replacing your current equipment, or getting your first set of personal gear, feel free to contact us anytime.

Tomorrow’s diving plans were unfortunately canceled last minute, so I’ll be taking a break from the ocean and catching up on some desk work instead.

See you next time!
