The Calm Before the Storm
Today’s ocean conditions in Kushimoto were surprisingly calm despite the approaching Typhoon No. 6.
With a water temperature of 24.1°C and visibility of around 10 meters, it was a great day for Discover Scuba Diving.
The sea was flat and comfortable, allowing our guests to enjoy their first underwater experience in relaxed conditions.
The water is getting warmer, and diving in a wetsuit is becoming more comfortable every week.
We may even see this year’s coral spawning earlier than usual if conditions remain favorable.
Today, we welcomed two groups for Discover Scuba Diving.
By coincidence, both groups consisted of one certified diver and one non-diver experiencing scuba diving for the very first time.
As an instructor, I always feel a little nervous in these situations.
Sometimes a first dive can determine whether someone develops a lifelong passion for diving or not.
Fortunately, both guests were very comfortable in the water and quickly gained confidence during the skills practice session.
Watching first-time divers experience the underwater world always reminds me of my own first dive.
Everything felt new, exciting, and unforgettable.
Both guests told us how much they enjoyed the experience, from the initial skills practice to the actual dive itself.
Seeing their smiles underwater and hearing their excitement afterward made the day especially rewarding for us as instructors.
At the end of the day, both guests said they were seriously considering getting their diving certification in the future.
It looks like we may have welcomed two future divers today!
As summer approaches, Kushimoto’s underwater world becomes even more colorful.
More tropical fish begin to appear, making beach dives increasingly enjoyable for beginners and certified divers alike.
Kushimoto is known as one of Japan’s premier diving destinations, offering warm water, healthy coral reefs, and easy access to beautiful dive sites.
At AquaVista Kushimoto, we introduce diving gradually and carefully, allowing guests to become comfortable in the water at their own pace.
Even if you have never tried scuba diving before, you can join with confidence.
If you are planning a trip to Japan and would like to experience scuba diving in Kushimoto, we would be happy to welcome you.
Temporary Closure Notice
AquaVista Kushimoto will be temporarily closed from June 1 to June 4 due to staff training and expected poor sea conditions caused by the approaching typhoon.
Normal diving operations will resume on June 5.
The current forecast indicates that the typhoon may approach or make landfall on mainland Japan with considerable strength.
We hope everyone stays safe during the coming days.
